StepBud is a MIDI Sequencer integrated with Audio Unit AUv3 plugin, Audiobus, and Ableton Link. It allows users to add an unlimited number of steps to their sequencer. Each step is represented by an LED and a fader for easy control.

Users have the flexibility to adjust various parameters for each step, such as note/chord selection within the chosen key and scale, velocity, gate time, modulation, pitch bend, portamento, probability, and swing. Additionally, custom MIDI CC messages can be sent to control hardware or software synth parameters.

Locking steps prevents unintended changes, while skipping steps enables dynamic live performances. The master fader at the bottom of the interface offers overall sequencer control with copy and shift modes available.

The Step Editor feature allows for detailed editing of step notes using either a virtual keyboard or a connected MIDI keyboard. Moreover, the app's lock mode facilitates quick adjustments with a single swipe gesture on visible step faders.

StepBud provides diverse arpeggio modes like up, down, up-down, or random sequencing to enhance musical compositions. It is essential to note that StepBud functions as a MIDI sequencer app and requires routing its MIDI out port to the desired audio app for sound generation.

Compatibility necessitates an iOS 11+ device and an Audio Unit host application like AUM, apeMatrix, Cubasis, BeatMaker, or Audiobus when utilizing StepBud as an Audio Unit plugin. Proper MIDI out routing to the intended app or audio unit is crucial for seamless operation.

Moreover, StepBud incorporates AudioKit's free and open-source project for its MIDI layer. Featured core components are also available on GitHub for user engagement through starring, forking, or contributing to the repositories.
